Taylor Made® Golf were incorporated in 1979 as Taylor Made Golf Co.
Taylor Made has been built on a true interest and love for developing golf clubs and a desire for product innovation. They are always on the search for building better drivers, fairway woods, irons and putters and perfection in their clubs.

Taylor Made’s first real success was in 1979 with a release of its first metal drivers. These quickly dominated the market. By the mid 1990′s their continued development put them in at the second largest golf manufacturer in the world.

The founder of Taylor made was entrepreneur Gary Adams, whos passion grew out of his appetite for golf. His innovation The Taylor Made  Metalwood changing the face of golf across the world forever. Before this point the technology had remained much the same for centuries some would say. Due to its innovation Taylor Made have managed to earn great respect across the world as one of only a handful of companies entrusted by amateur and professional golfers alike. The Metalwood driver was met with a wary eye at the PGA 1979 Merchandise Show. Golf was slow to change up to this point and change was met with a little stubbornness.

Taylor Made also are responsible for bringing the two piece ball into the golfing world. The two piece ball became the standard and ball of choice for pro’s with its extra distance but Gary Adams ( Founder ) convinced 47 professionals to use Taylor Made Metalwoods when competing in the 1979 PGA Club Professional Championship. By the end of 1980 the Taylor Made brand was becoming well established and trusted.

In 1984 the French manufacturer Salomon S.A. acquired Taylor Made, which they believed gave themselves a better entry into the golf market. Up to this point Solomon had produced ski equipment. With deep pockets and added innovation this step was needed with the gathering interest of other manufacturers ( with deeper pockets ) in Metal Drivers / Woods and golf innovation.

Taylor Made clubs went on to be part of some major tour victories in the 1980;s, all the time also developing irons , balls and putters.

1990′s Taylor Made move to be a leader in the golf industry with huge growth for the company who now have a strong brand. The mid 90′s also saw the arrival of the Burner series, a still extremely successful range with the Burner Bubble Driver. With shaft development now an important factor with the growing demands from pro golfers and increased swing speeds the Bubble Driver enabled golfers to increase swing speed without too much extra effort. Te Buuble Driver also became the first metalwood to win the Masters Tournament.

The Bubble Driver was given a huge push and marketing budget unseen before and in the fors 8 months sold 500,000 units.

1996 Charles Yash leaves to form Callaway Golf Ball Co and Taylor Made move to be the second largest golf manufacturer in the world.
1997 Taylor made consolidate with Carlsbad as a move to expand production and later that year Salomon sold or agreed to sell controlling interest in Taylor Made to Adidas AG. THis was viewed as a very positive move for Taylor Made as of course Adidas was a global giant. This indeed had very positive results with an increase of 25% in Metalwood sales in the USA and 30% increase in irons. Its putter sales were up perhaps 90%. Almost all areas there was large growth.

Of course today we see the continued development and innovation of the Burner Series with the Superfast 2.0 TP Driver , Irons, Putters, Balls

Taylor made is currently one of the largest golf club manufacturers in the world. ( 2011 )
